This piece is the result of looking at wonderful images of tractography brain imagery suggested by a neurosurgeon. A colorful look at white matter in the brain.
I started with a manipulated image of one of my embroidered rainbow brains printed on linen and then I stitched line after line of cotton thread in all the colors - embedded deep within are streaks of gold. After finishing the stitching I stretched the piece onto 12 x 12 inch heavy duty wooden stretcher bars and painted - first a layer of white paint, then rainbow streamers, and finally a gradient gold surrounding the brain.
