Justice NOW - Original Mixed Media Neuro Art 11x14 - All proceeds donated
I started with a printed flowery brain on artist canvas, then stitched every flower by hand incorporating the words Joy, Peace, Love, Hope and Justice. I was working on this while many people were out marching in the streets for the Black Lives Matter Movement in the summer of 2020. Marching during a pandemic didn't feel safe to me so I poured out my feelings and support into this piece of art. After I finished the embroidery, I hand painted the word NOW partially obstructing the words Peace, Joy, Hope and Love - because without Justice how can we truly have the others? I then finished off the piece by stretching it onto gallery wrapped stretcher bars and painting the background a rough gray tone symbolizing a concrete wall. The sides are painted black.
100% of the proceeds from this sale will go to an organization working on a national level for social justice. Organizations I already support include: Southern Poverty Law Center, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, ACLU and The Bail Project. The buyer may request one of these or a different organization that serves a national population towards the goal of social justice.
